Thanksgiving

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 8:49 am

I know, sorry folks, but I just wasn’t up to blogging yesterday. I’m just not feelin’ it this week. I think I’m too distracted by the short week and pending family gathering.

Not a whole lot going on this week. Just packing and doing laundry.

We should be able to leave work early today - rumor is that the boss is taking us out to lunch then letting us head out. I hope so. The sooner we can get out of town the better.
We’re taking Luna up to Okalahoma with us this weekend, so she’ll get to meet the fam. My cousin Mindy is the only one to have seen my doggie. Fortunately she’s good with car rides. It’s probably gonna be a good couple of hours before we get out of the metroplex traffic.

We’ll stop off in Eufaula to see Phlome’s fam, and probably stay the night there. Then get up really early Thursday morning, so I can be in Tulsa by 9am and start helping mom with some last minute dish preparations. Phlome has finally conceded to spending the day with me. :-) Friday Phlome will get his daughter then head back down to spend the rest of the weekend with his family. On Saturday my fam is going to Edmond to see my greatgrandmother, and other extended family for post Thanksgiving extended family gathering. Then Sunday I’ll meet back up with Phlome and we’ll head back down here. whew - lots of riding in cars this weekend!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Poll

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 12:19 pm

This cartoon has just inspired me - I need a poll.
Hmm, now to decide what to poll on.
Ooooh, I know!
Should Phlome spend Thanksgiving with me and my family?
Here are the facts:
1) He has to go to Tulsa on either thurs. night or Fri. morning anyway
2) His mother suggested that he go ahead and spend Thanksgiving with me, due to reason 1
3) My family really wants him to join us.
4) I really want him to come too.

I’ll give Phlome a chance to list his reasons for balking, then we’ll poll.
So, Phlome; go at it, leave your reasons in the comments section then let the poll begin. :-)

Ugh, Monday

Not really up for a full post today. Phlome’s got a nice summery of what we did this weekend at Notival.

Had a blast Sat. night at Blind Lemon/Art bar (multiple bars/clubs in one) down on Deep Ellum (multiple bars/clubs in one). The blacklight Bar had to be the best. They had dancers with blacklight body paint, they were quite entertaining. And the blacklight made everyone who had blue or green eyes, look like they didnt have pupils. Pretty freaky. Those of us with dull brown eyes just looked normal. They’ve got some really awesome blacklight wall paintings in the BlackLight bar. :-)
Sunday, Mike, (a friend from back home, who I went to HS with) and his friends had dinner with me and my friends at BD’s. Great food, love the place, but we had some of the worst service ever in my life. I dont’ know if it was our waitresses first night or last night, but she certainly didn’t seem to care. We had like 3 other people who had to come over and help us, cuz she wouldn’t. We spoke to the manager about it, and we all got a free meal next time we go back.
Then we went over to the house, played some pool, and everyone except Mike and I played DND: Heros. Then Mike’s allergy to cats finally caught up with him, an they had to head out around 11pm. Mike was only in town for the weekend, and Sunday was the only chance for us to hang out (thanks to me carelessly forgetting my cellphon Sat. night).

Diet sucked this weekend…

I love Eddie

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 1:30 pm

Ok, so if you havn’t yet heard of Eddie Izzard, then pull yourself out from under the rock you’ve been hiding and go check out his website! After that go directly to Amazon.com and check out his available DVD’s. If you’re not quite ready to buy his stuff yet, rent his Dressed to Kill DVD. But I strongly suggest that you go ahead and buy it though, because it’s hard to find at your local video rental. It’s totally worth it. However, I do believe it’s available on Netflix, if you subscribe to it.
If you’re not rolling on the floor laughing at his stand-up, then you need to see a doctor to have your funny bone checked.

The reason I bring up Eddie today, is because his new DVD Sexxie, is coming out on November 24. So if you want to you could go here and try to win the DVD and a Sony DVD player. Then you can keep the DVD player, and give me the DVD for Christmas!

I unfortunatly missed his world tour that just ended it’s North AmPhlomea leg, this month. :-( Tickets sold out like crazy, and he wasn’t coming anywhere near Dallas, anyway. I would have had to fly to Boston. Which I wouldn’t complain about, since I have friends up there I really need to go see sometime soon.

Well that’s all for now…

Interview

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 9:24 am

For the last several days I’ve been trying to coordinate a phone interview with a gentleman at MindSphere (a recruiting firm). Yesterday he called at noon just as I was about to go to lunch. I wasn’t expecting to talk to him until later, but he conducted the interview right then and there. Then he invited me to meet him right after work for a face to face interview. I was only expecting a preliminarly, work history, kind of meet and greet interview, but no, it was a full blown behavioral interview. Ick - I hate those!
Anyway, it went pretty well. He feels confident enough to pass my resume onto EMC, who the position is actually with. I’m pretty excited about it. The position they’re looking to fill is for an assistant to 5 sales managers. The only concern he had, is that I’ve never actually worked in Sales (Sears doesn’t count). I have all the other skills they are looking for, though.
I expect I would be doing a lot of the same kind of thing I’m doing now, but higher pay and slightly better benefits. It would also of course mean more responsibility and probably more hours - but hey, there’s always a trade off.
I should hear something by Monday, as to whether they want to bring me in for a 2nd interview. (or is that 3rd?)

Anyway. So after that Phlome, Ryan, and I went and played Racquetball at the local Rec Center (Senter Park). I had a lot of fun - but I think I may have made Phlome mad at one point. Because the very next ball he served, hit me right in the mouth! No not really, it was an accident, I’m sure! ;-) It did kind of sting a bit though…During our second game of racquetball, I scored a whole 5 points before Phlome went out - I was rather proud! Then in our third game, I got another 5 points (I’m not sure that I even scored in the first game). Of course then Phlome had to bust my bubble and say that he had already gone out, and they had just stopped keeping score. Anyway - I’m still proud, I scored a whole 10 points last night in racquetball. Seems I spend most of the time trying to get out of the guys’ way though. I didn’t do a very good job of it last night, I got runover a couple of times. But it certainly gets your heartrate up. And I have fun playing it too, usually. I think from now on though, I’ll just keep my score through all the games, instead of starting over whenever one of the guys goes out. (Phlome usually, cuz he doesn’t play fair.)

Pet Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 4:07 pm

Quote of the week: “Mira tried to dig out this moring too, then when I scolded her Luna decided to jump her. Then the cat ate my cereal. I hate pets.” –Ryan

Now don’t get all excited about this whole quote thing, there’s no guarantee that I’ll have one every week - but this one just made me laugh. Still does. *giggle*

I think Sabine ate Ryan’s cereal, just out of spite, for having put her on a diet.

Mira is Ryan’s dog - lately she’s decided that her purpose in life is to dig out from under the fence in the back yard and go explore the neighborhood whenever possible. I think Luna may be helping, in order to achieve her plan to become the only dog in the house. But I know for a fact that Luna does not always help. Because yesterday when Mira got out, Luna’s paws were not dirty at all, an impossibility if she’d been digging.

Oh, and btw, Mira got out again this morning. I think that’s just about everyday this week.

Zzzzzzzzz

I am soooo sleepy this morning. I woke up this morning, pretty sure it was Friday. What a ghastly disappointment to realize it’s only Wednesday. I think my days are all screwy because Phlome and I went out last night. His company, Funimation, was hosting a cast party in celebration of the completion of DragonBall Z and the beginnng of DragonBallGT. Now unless you’re a big Cartoon Network fan, or an Anime fan (aka Japanimation), or have children between the ages of 9 and 15, you probably have no idea what that means. I only vaguely know what it means. Funimation redubs, edits, and distributes a lot of Japanese animation - and so last night all the voice actors for DragonBall Z and several of the other employees went out to a bar and celebrated.
Since Phlome is one of the other employees we went to watch the fun - had some free food, a couple of free drinks, and watched people make fools of themselves at Karaoke.
But really that shouldn’t cause me to be all that sleepy today, we were home by 10. I think I need more protein.

Anyway - that’s about it for yesterday. For my diet plan update see below.

Fakester Guilt Trip and Diet Plan

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 10:11 am

Ok - for you friendsters out there, I’m sorry. Two of my friendsters have laid on the guilt trip, real thick. Yesterday I flagged the Governor, Brain in a Jar, and Hatester for reviews. Evidently friendster just deletes anyone who gets flagged.
So I’ll lay off - but seriously, I don’t think I’m doing that much damage. I bet it takes more than one flag to get booted. I know Amy, you’ll never forgive me for the Lumberg incident. But I have faith in your reincarnaster, as much as you do. So until this guilt trip wears off, I’ll not flag anyone else.

Not a whole lot happened yesterday. After work we played raquetball then ate dinner at the Olive Garden. I love their salad! I’m reading Dragonriders of Pern, so I read that until I went to sleep. Oh yeah, Ryan got an X-box a few weeks back, and last night Ryan, Phlome and I played some game - DND Heros or somethng like that. Just your standard run around and kill stuff en route to some quest. Rather entertaining, and a pleasant waste of time.

On to other news… If you want to read about my Grand Diet Plan click below to continue.

Shameless Plugs

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 2:12 pm

OK for those of you who are in various circles of mine that don’t directly overlap into other circles, and are wondering who/what those links are over there on the side (see comments from entry ‘First‘), here’s a brief intro and some shameless plugs.
Notival: My sexy stud of a bf (that’s me in the pic with him, in case you couldn’t tell), check out his site for more info, and pics . Eventually I will have pics, but for now I’m just mooching off of his.
Channel Zero: My roommate/coolest landlord in the world, Ryan. For some grand entertainment and to learn a bit more about Ryan, check out Channel Zero.
RogersRopers: This is a site about my highschool. Lots of Alumni visit it and chat there. If you’re a Roper grad or just curious, check it out.
Furious Jessy: Long time friend. I’ve known here since 2nd grade (my first year in an American School). We went to elementary, middle, high school, and even our first year of college together (until I transferred to OU). We lost touch a few times here an there, but we always manage to catch upwhen we need to. For a touch of insanity check out her site!
Skull Furnace: These guys are pure insanity. I know at least one of them…I think. :-). For loads of fun, and plenty of vulgarity, visit their site…it ain’t for your mamma (so mom, I advise you to skip this one).
Friendster!: All for you Amy! This is an awesome site. It’s purpose is to link people together with other people. Great way to meet people, or to just check out the freaks. But beware the fakester. I’m tempted to startup an anti-fakester movement. Spend a few hours reporting fakesters, and those that violate friendsters picture requirements (no animals, children, or copywrited material pls.) So if your a frequent friendsterer, take a few minutes to ‘report’ a few of those fakesters and other evil-doers. If I decide to actually destroy the fakesters, I may start providing weekly updates…I’ll have to think on that one a bit. Here’s me on friendster: Friendster Profile. From there you can see some of my friendsters - some might even look a bit familiar…

OK - so that’s the shameless plug of the week.

Enjoy!

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 10:06 am

Ok, so here it goes, entry # 2…
Had a rather interesting weekend, sorta.
Friday night, Phlome and I met Amy and Monketo at a local sportsbar/dive: Bailey’s 1st and 10. Their burgers were awesome! And the chip/fries thingies..yum! You’ve just got to try them to understand - they’re french fries shaped like potatoe chips - yummy!
A bit smokey - and we didnt’ get a chance to try the beer, because we had to go catch a movie, “Bubba Hotep“, at the local independent film theater, The Angelika.
And boy was that a catch! Imagine this: Elvis Presley didn’t die of a heart attack/drug overdose in 1977, instead he switched places with an Elvis impersonator well beforehand, and lived out his life impersonating himself, untill he blew out his hip and landed in a west Texas nursing home. On top of that - JFK wasn’t killed in Dallas, the CIA made him into a black man (oh and that piece of brain matter, they have - it’s really his, he just has a sack of sand in the back of his skull now). I know I know, you’re thinking that doesn’t require too much imagination! But on top of all this, a soul sucking mummy has managed to find it’s way into the nursing home and is slowly killing off the patients. Sure sure, they’re gonna die anyway, but who want’s they’re soul sucked out of their ass, then shat down the visitors toilet after the mummy has digested it? Not to mention he graffitis the bathroom stalls! (Cleopatra does the nasty) And the only 2 people who can save the day? A semi-wheelchair-bound black JFK, and a walker-dependent Elvis with a bad hip. I’ll not ruin the climax of the movie for ya, you’ll just have to go see it yourself.
So that was Friday night’s activities.
Saturday would have been rather dull if not for the cat fight that broke out at the dog park.
We took our puppies to the park (as stated in my previous entry), for a nice romp around since it was such a great day out. As we suspected, due to the unexpected nice weather, there were a lot of people there with thier doggies. But we were not counting on the SPCA mobile adoption center, or the White Rock Dog Park fund raising/community meeting. The place was soo busy - that by the time we left, even the overflow parking area was plum overflowed. Anyway - the cat fight…With so many dogs there, a few scuffles can be expected, but there was one dog (I couldn’t identify the breed - looked to me like it could have been a pit bull mix) who was a bit overly agressive. We witnessed him attack another dog rather fiercly - we kept our dogs out of it (silly puppies), and several other people managed to pull the dogs apart. The owner of the agressor finally showed up, (a young woman probably in her mid to late 20s). Then some other lady - whose dog was not at all involved in the fight (she had a great dane) walked up to her and began to lecture her on her inattentiveness to her dog, telling her that the dog had attacked 5 others that day, and told her she was ignorant about her breed. Needless to say agressive dog lady did not take that too well - and snapped back at great dane lady defensively - they went back and forth like this for a while - then eventually agressive dog lady stormed off. About that time we figured after 2 hours at the park it was time to go home. The puppies agreed and napped rather soundly on the way home.

Sunday Phlome watched football most of the day - and we both vegged til we were vegged out then went to the Parks Mall to do some pre-Christmas window shopping.

So that’s my first weekend for the blog - If anything exciting happens today - maybe I can make another update later - or maybe I’ll just wait til tomorrow.
In the meantime check out my links. :-) I’ll add more later this week…maybe.
