Ok - so I’m finally better. A LOT happened last week. But first I must vent as inspired by Bunny’s Star Jones back fat comment.
At the mall, while not dress shopping last week w/ mom I saw a black girl with a backless/sidelss, only material in front type of shirt. At first I thought it was a shirt with some interesting designs on the back and sides. Nope those were rolls of fat. Full fledged rolls - I counted 4 in my brief glance before realizing what a freakshow I was looking at. OMG! Child - get some self respect! To quote the airborne delivery guy from my previous employer “when you wear those backless shirts, you shouldn’t look like a can of biscuits.” Very profound.
Phlome and I are basically home-owners now, just a few technicalities to deal with over the next 4 weeks. He’s doing all the hard work. I just offer my support where I can. made a page with pictures of the house but now it’s not working. I may try again later.
Took my final saturday night - I think I did rather poorly. I don’t think I was completely better yet, and started getting nauseous 2 hours into the 3.5 hour final. Tonight is day one of class one- Marketing Managment. Thursday night is Training and Development. Getting reved up for a very busy semester. Great timing eh? Just as we’re getting ready to move into a house I double up on my course load. I don’t think I like the online class thing. Entirely too demotivating, I prefer the live classroom dynamic. I’m going to try to double up on as many classes as I can, though I think I’ll take my first accounting course next session, maybe take it w/ intro to Technology (which I expect to be something like: this is a mouse, this is a keyboard, this is the internet -oooooh). Though many have advised me to only take one class at a time when taking accounting classes since it requires a lot of outside of class work.
In other news I’ve just about ruled out the Chateau at Forrest Park as a potential location, despite how incredibly easy it would be. NE Wedding Chapel is the only one of the original contenders that is still a possibility. But I think I’ll start looking South. Duncanville has some hanging gardens or something I once considered looking into, now that we’ll be living south of 30, it’s a little closer. I’m so glad Phlome is handling the house stuff. The wedding stuff is tiring me already - at least with the house we can see progress. So far for the wedding I have ruled out 6.5 locations, and found a dress - which I need to go see again before I change my mind on it too.
*sigh*
Ok, so 57 hours, 6 houses and 5 wedding locations later…
mom is at the airport on her way back to T-town. I just got back from dropping her off.
As you can tell from phlome’s blog we’ve started the initial phase of purchasing our new home. hopefully.
Mom and I found 2 wedding locations (out of the initial 7, 6 of which we actually went to see), that I really like. I would be happy with either. So this week Phlome and I will go see them again. Wed. we’ll go to one, and sometime tues or thurs we’ll probably go to the other.
i’m beat.
But here’s the ever so exciting news.
I FOUND THE DRESS!!!!!
I’m very tired now. I will share the dramatic details tomorrow. After some rest.
We’re putting bids in on two houses today.
House #1 = the house I love and lust and dream about, but which is slightly out of our range and extends both of our commutes.
House #2 = a house that is closer to both of our works (shortening our commutes) and is priced well within our budget.
We’re making offers on buth under their prices. The way I see it, we have a better chance of getting house #2, but would be happier with house #1.
Mom and I have looked at 4 different potentential wedding locations so far. 2- 3 more planned for today. There are 2 locations that we will be taking a 2nd look at.
I love that house. I’ve moved beyond lust, into full blown love. *whimper*

I’ll post againd and get rid of the silly quizzes.
Last night I stayed up here at work until about 9pm finishing my term paper. The paper is due Sunday by midnight, but as I posted some time back, I’ve got a busy weekend ahead of me (7 wedding locations and 6 houses in 3 days.) While mom doesn’t come in until tomorrow morning, I kinda wanted to go out tonight - being friday and all.
Halo, when are you coming in tonight? I need to make room in on my bed for you.
TeeHee - that sounded a little risque, now didn’t it! No worries Halo’s fiancee (sorry dont’ know your current nickname if you have one) - I’m making room for you too! Seriously folks, though - ‘my’ room is essentially the guest room, so the bed in my room becomes the guest bed, and I currently have large piles of clean laundry piled on it that need to be put away (and some dirty laundry on the floor that needs to be laundered). Laundry is the bane of my existance. I just want someone to take care of my laundry for me. I hate laundry.
I so wish I had Mary Poppins magical snap to make my clothes fold and hang themselves. I also need way more closet and dresser drawer space. That is a major requirement of the house - plenty of closet space for all my clothes!
Speaking of homes. Tonight we get to go see the house I’ve been lusting after. The one I keep having to tell myself is too far away. But everytime I look at pictures of it, I loooooooong for it. I have a bad feeling my heart will be broken when someone else makes a higher bid on the house. Being that we have to offer less than what they offer.
So does anyone out there know what the SOP (standard operating procedure) is for making an offer on a house? I know you’re supposed to offer less than they ask, but is there a percentage less? So if they’re asking 121.9, is offering 117 an insult? 115? If we can’t go more than 120, then how much lower than our actual upper limit are we supposed to go?
Back to work now. More later. Perhaps.

On the radio today they were talking about life’s greatest disappointments. Some that were on the list:
Lapdances
Turning 18
Cocaine
Bachelor Parties
Meeting a Porn star in person
A caller called in and said Marriage. They then got into discussions of what people expected once they got married. The DJs agreed that the wedding day/honeymoon are the peak of the relationship and it’s all downhill from there. So I ask you folks, what do you think?
For married or those who have been married in the past:
Before you got married, what did you expect after you got married? Did you expect things to change? Did you exepct them to stay the same? Did you over/under romanticize it? How did marriage change your life/your relationship? Or did it?
For those unmarried folks:
What do you expect out of marriage? Not in your (theoretical) SO, but what do you expect getting married will do for you? Your SO? Your relationship? Do you expect things to change? How so?
So we went to see that house - just to drive by it - last night.
It’s 6 miles south of where we currently work - adding about 15 mins. to Phlome’s commute. Since it’s straight down beltline, and I work not too far from beltline, it doesnt’ add as much to my commute (according to yahoo). Which means w/ traffic - Phlome is approaching an hour - which is very discouraging.
The street the house is on, is full of really nice houses. To the North is more new develoment areas. To the East a lake. To the South - a trailer park. Hence the low property value.
So if we could get a nice tornado to rip through there - voila new development!
Anyway - it really is as nice as it looks on the outside. We’ll go sometime this weekend to take a full tour w/ our Realtor, and then decide if it’s worth it…in the meantime I think we’ll look in Bedford - closer to work for both of us.
Phlome got me a cute little Fruits Basket bag that is the perfect size for my laptop!
Been looking at houses online, and I think I found the one I want. Of course it may look completely different in person. But I hope to find out sometime this week what it looks like.
Here it is, take a look - but don’t go buy it before I can look at it or I will hate you forever. Unless of course you want to buy it for us, then I will love you forever and forever be indebted to you.
One of the sales guys at work bought me organic chocolate French truffles. They’re decadent and nauseatingly delicious.
It’s my turn this time. I’m up at Phlome’s office w/ him. He’s gotta do some stuff to a server or something. So I’m here sitting in his office. Did some school work. Now I see that Ryan’s has a new sign. Not very interesting though:
Valentines Day
All You
Can Eat
Steak & Shrimp
$8.49 After 400
So does that mean you have to pay $8.49 after you’ve eaten your 400th steak or shrimp.
