Trip Report - Six Flags Trip 1

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 1:28 pm

We got to the park just before 7:30 (had to grab food before we left).

Batman first row - nice way to start. But her burger was not quite settled yet. So we took our time before making our way to the FlashBack, where I freaked out (as usual) as they pullled us backwards up the first “hill”. It’s so much fun to scream!

Then onto Mr. Freeze, where we waited for the front seat, only to be informed that the ride broke (again - it did this the first time I went this year). So no Mr. Freeze :-(
Next we went wandering and found ourselves at Judge Roy Scream - wooden - blah, and just so dinky compared to the Titan. But the camel humps are fun!

Then to the shockwave - Front Row - lots of screaming and we got splattered in the face with what I think were tree leaves, or seeds. Nothing damaging, just a sprinkling of something rough-ish.

Next we went to find the Titan. Hardly a line! Whoo hoo! So we rode 2nd from the front and my heart was POUNDING as we creeped our way up the looooong 255 feet to the top of the hill. There it seemed like a sloooow crawl over the hill, and then looking straight down…..nothing….nothing but track. And the screaming begins……as we approached top speed of 85 mph, we swooshed through the underground tunnel (can’t resist that urge to duck!) Then on to more hills and spirals (tunnel vision!). Then finally 5,312 feet later we came to our stop.
AGAIN!
This time we waited for the very front row. It is so worth it. But I don’t think I can handle it the first time. I have to survive that first ride, not in the front, before I can deal with the front seat.
This time the camera that catches you as you go into the tunnel after the first hill, caught an almost pornogaphic picture of us. See, in the front row, there’s no stopping the breeze. And well with um the free fall thing. Well things go up, and clothes get plastered against you. Well, lets just say that you could probably estimate our cup sizes very accurately from that picture!

Then to settls ourselves before heading home, we rode the conquestador - which is still a lot of fun. And since we were dripping with sweat, in the sweltering breezeless Texas summer heat - we decided the splash down was the best way to end the evening.

They made us ride twice in a row - becuase, well - everyone else in the boat wanted to go again, and our puny voices couldnt’ be heard over 8 tripping teenage girls a dad and 2 very wet, very happy 5 and 7 yrl olds (to my best guess).
Yeah after that ride I’m surprised they didn’t get me for indecent exposure. *sigh*
Then back home (after my barefoot cheeto run/Brit-Brit impression at the local conoco). There I was too wound up to go to sleep and was up until way past my bedtime - 1:30ish I think.

So that was 6 flags last night. More fun tonight!

Stop all the yelling!

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 10:12 am

Came in a bit late today, and was confronted with the defeaning sound of a shouting match.
The guy who manages our consultants (we’ll call him CM) and one of our sales guys (SG) we’re seriously going at it. Now neither of them report to eachother, but SG depends on CM for consultants for the jobs he sells, and CM depends on SG to make the sales to his consultants can work. From what I can tell they were having strong disagreements as to which upcoming “jobs” were of greater priority, and where the “resources” were going to come from. They started out 3 cubes down from me. And eventually went around the corner (yelling as they walked, sometimes one walking away and the other yelling, and back and forth). Once around the corner, they went into a room, but failed to shut the door. At this point CM was yelling at the top of his lungs to SHUT UP - YOU’RE NOT LISTENING TO ME.

There were many explicative shared between the two. I’ve never seen two grown men act so very un-professional. Though I do know that SG is known for being stubborn, thick headed, and increadibly grating. Most of the time people will bite their tounges. SG is very provoking. I’ve heard it and seen it happen on many a conf call/meeting. Never seen anyone blow up like that though - just a lot of jumping down eachother’s throats and moving on.

What a great way to start the morning.

5 Things you would tell your 16 year old self
and
5 Things you would tell your 18 year old self

16 year old self
1. Rex isn’t worth it, Jeremy will be, as will David, (for different reasons) and you should really see what would happen with Nathan (for curiosity’s sake)
2. Don’t be so mean to Mom, she’s dealing with a lot right now
3. Spend more time with Great Grand Dad - he’s only got a few more months
4. The Step mom doesn’t get any better, spend more time with dad and talk to him about how you feel, or else it will be entirely too late
5. At 16 it’s probably too late to do anything about Mom’s husband, but you don’t need to wait so long to tell mom what you really think.

18 year old self.
1. I know what Jeremy did hurts, but things will get better
2. You’ll see David again, promise
3. Tell the stylist exactly what you think about what she does to your hair on prom night
4. Yes, your intuitions about Mark are correct, support him and don’t loose touch.
5. Your first year of college will not be easy - you have got to try harder!

Wednesday = FUN

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 11:36 am

Not yet though - after lunch I’m gonna be rather busy. But hopefully it will make the time go by rather quickly. The fun begins after work.

I’m going to 6 flags!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!
Didn’t get to make it Monday bcz my 6flags buddy for Monday,Ruby’s Hubby, had to cancel.
Ruby was having some complications with her bebe to be. But no major worries - she will have to have a C-section, but she’s known that for a while. Thank goodness for modern medicine. She’s doing better, and has an Aug. 10 date for the C-section.

I’m so excited about 6 flags. More so than I really should be. You know why? Because I’ve had this thing for a while about riding the Titan at night. And I finally get to tonight!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!

Since everybody else is…

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 1:00 pm

Ok - so here’s my conclusion:
L. Ron Hubbard = not crazy
Tom Cruise = crazy
Katie Holmes = undecided

And here’s why. This is what we know about Mr. Hubbard (Thanks Wikki and www.xenu.net)

He was a Sci-Fi novelist
He wrote a book on what some people would consider controversial theories/philosophies
He later based a religion on these philosophies
He has issues w/ psychiatry/psychiatrists
Before passing from this life/plane/existence, he claimed to have achieved the highest level of spiritual attainment possible making him at least a demi-God

*First of all folks, I’d like to remind everyone that Fi in SciFi = Fiction.
*Secondly, lots of people have controversial theories/philosophies. Need I bring up evolution here? Creationism? Theory of relativity? Nature vs. Nurture? All can be considered controversial.
*More importantly, more than one of his colleagues have said that before all this Scientology stuff, he said that the way to get rich/make money, is to start a religion.
*His issues with psychiatry (though I don’t know exactly what all they are) may not be completely unfounded. Many psychologist have issues with psychiatry. Too often drugs are used as a quick fix without the real problem being addressed (something Mr. Cruise goes off on w/ Mr. Lauer, but then takes too far). Study after study has shown that behavioral therapy is far more effective in the long run, than meds alone. However, meds can certainly help the behavioral therapy along in the initial stages. Enough on that rant.
*Ok - so claiming to be a deity is a bit wacky. But hey - if you can convince thousands of people to follow you in a completely wacky religion based solely on a failed idea for a sci fi book, why not see if you can make yourself their God.

Hubbard wasn’t a wack job. Hubbard wasn’t a genius. Hubbard was an opportunist who took full advantage of the law to make a lot of money. He protected his enterprises by calling it a religion, so the gov. couldn’t touch it.
He was very meticulous about what he did. Everyone loves secret societies. So he made his own, charged people a hell of money, and made up some fun stories to entertain them.
The real wackos are the people who believe him.

Which brings me to Tom Cruise. My guess is that he recently made it to a higher level with in Scientology that has caused him to make such a drastic change in his life. I don’t know what all the steps involved are, but I do know that you really have to prove yourself (and your pocketbook) to reach the higher echelons. And the fun story about Xenu the diabolical alien who tried to kill and brain wash all the thetans (souls) with the H-bombs in the earth volcanoes, doesn’t come out until level 3. I figure that’s where Tommy boy is now. Cause if you’re gonna believe that, you’ve really got to be nutty. Or who knows maybe he’s moving on to level 4 - I have no clue what that level entails - but if you have accepted Xenu the destroyer, you never know what they’ll convince you of next. Though I do hear that you can fix coffee pots and ACs with the power from Scientology, without even touching them. Now that’s a useful talent.
And if as Jess says, the lack of Ritalin is sending him off the deep end, that too can be blamed on Scientology. They may have let him use the psychiatric poison in the initial stages, but once you reach a certain level, there’s no way they would tolerate your support of the evils of psychiatry.

Ok - now to Ms. Holmes.
Theory 1) She’s head over heals in love with Tom Cruise, being that she’s been his biggest fan since she could hustle out of her Huggies, and will do anything for him.
Theory 2) She sees what a wack job he is, and is taking full advantage of his star power for a career boost, and is gonna run like the wind after the summer blockbusters.

I’m really pulling for 2, I feel sorry for the girl. I just hope she’s smarter than she looks.

Those are my theories - take them with a grain of salt. They’ll probably change 3 times before the end of the week anyway

I can’t deal with Monday today

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 9:31 am

I’m bored and in no mood whatsoever to be productive.

So I decided to go visit some of those networking friends sites I signed up for ages ago, and see if I can find anyone I know. Remember Friendster? MySpace? - Already checked back into LiveJournal - while not technically a networking thing, everyone seems to be on there.

I need to remember to make some business cards to take with me to D*Con this year. Why business cards, you ask? Because lots of people want to share pictures, so I ended up writing my email/web address down a million times last year. This year I plan on coming prepared.

I’m also hoping to see if anyone expresses any interest in my t-shirt ideas. I need to get back to work on those.

Hey monkey? Any luck on the screen printing thing? (He’ll probably never see this, so I need to remember to ask him tomorrow night.)

Ok - back to stalking people I may or may not know on friendster and myspace.

Oblige

It’s friday. It’s slow. I feel I should say something.

I have just purchased my 4th set of nose rings (if you count that first one that came with the piercing). Why do you ask when I have only one nose pierced? Because the the friggin “gem” in nose rings WILL NOT stay in. The one that came with the piercing fell out in a couple weeks. So I went and bought a set at Claires (because they only come in sets and not singles, and because claires’ is near work). Well turns out I purchased nose studs instead of nose screws, and nose studs do not yet fit through my tender nose. I tried. I bled. It hurt. I gave up. So then went to one of those kiosks and bought a nose screw very similar to the one I was pierced with, along with a hoop (which turned out to be too big a gauge) and another one that really looks to big on my nostril.
Within a matter of days, that gem fell out too. So today I went and bought another set of nose screws. I’ll put in my new one soon.

Tonight after work I’m going w/ a friend to La Bare - a male strip club here in Dallas. I’m not sure how long we’ll stay. Probably only an hour or 2 max. Then I’ll go track down Phlome and the squid and join them in whatever fun they’re up to.

I have a bad habit of making plans anytime I see that there is a free weekend on the calendar. I really should try to leave a weekend open to working around the house - there is plenty to work on!

Next week I’m going to 6 flags on Mon. and Wed after work next week. I am so getting my $$ worth out of this pass. Well more so than last year anyway. People w/out full time jobs can get more value - as would people who aren’t also going to school part time. But since school doesn’t start til the 5th, I’m getting what I can, while I can.

Updates

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 2:11 pm

They will be coming soon.

But in the meantime, here’s what’s happened so far:

We got back Tuesday around 8ish and Phlome went to pick up Luna from Zero’s.
Not long after she’d explored the house and backyard to make sure all was okay - I noticed her right eye looked a little funny.
A few minutes later, it was painfully obvious that her right “eyebrow” was horribly swollen and her eye was only half open. Then I remembered that I had seen her rubbing at that eye earlier. And also that I had heard a buzzing coming from the kitchen area (where her doggie door is). Conclusion: She got into it w/ a wasp (or two). She soon began limping also. And before bed, she wouldn’t put any weight on her right foot. Upon examination we decided that a wasp got her just above the eye, on her right ankle, and then she bit at it, where it made a couple more last attempts, and got her in the lip.
By Wed. morning the swelling had gone down quite a bit, and there was only a minor limp in her gate when she strotted. By afternoon no signs of damage.

Wednesday we went to the post office to collect our mail that we had put on hold while we were out of town. As we arrived there was a truck and a car blocking the drive way in front of the post office - looked like they had just rearended eachother. Fortunatly there was a parking space just behind them. Assuming they would be gone by the time we came out, we parked and went in.
When we came out, they were still there, and a line had formed behind them, blocking us in completely. The car was occupied by two old biddies (seriously, you could tell just by looking at them); the truck, by a young girl (barrel racer from Louisianna, I’m sure). So Phlome went in to inform the Post Office folk of the situation. A few minutes later an official looking PO dude comes out and taps on the window of the biddies. The driver refuses to roll down her window. Then he whips out his badge, and finally she agrees to roll down the window. About this time the police arrive, and the PO dude and officer inform both drivers that they must pull into their original respective parking spaces. We can finally leave.
I would have liked to have known the situation, but this seems to be what happened, as far as we can tell: Old Biddie and Young Girl simultaneously pull out and rear end eachother (tap each other is more accurate as there was barely a scratch on either car). Biddies call police, and for some reason both drivers refuse to move their vehicles. My theory is that both drivers yelled at eachother a bit, blaming the other, and Biddie decides that by not moving she can prove to the police that the girl hit her, and Girl, frustrated with biddies insanity, becomes just as stubborn, and refuses to move (you know just in case, the police can tell that it WAS the Biddies who hit her and not the other way around).
I bet the police officer just loved it. A no injury, no fault situation and he has to drive over there just so these people will get on with their lives.
Who hit who, we may never know - but I’m betting it was both their faults, and the damage on either car wouldn’t be worth the deductable.

Brain on vacation

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 1:20 pm

So last night I took the final and that’s all I want to say about.
It’s done.

Today I am technically at work - my brain is not. I’m thinking we’ll probably Hotwire our hotels as we go. I’ll book one for Thurs. And from that hotel book another for our next stay, and on like that. Phlome won’t let me book in advance. Road Trip is to be as minimally planned as possible.

but we have beef jerkey! 8lbs of it (or at least it was 8lbs before it got dried)

Tomorrow 6 flags, and maybe batman.

Tonight Dave & Busters (maybe) - or we could make some people jealous and go see it at midnight tonight!!!!

OOOOOH Christian Bale, and his oh so lovely lips….*drool*

christiantan.bmp

Watched Velvet Goldmine the other day - and was more enthralled by Mr. McGreggor and his floppity flop flop than the lucious lips of Mr. Bale. Equilibrium is better for that.
But I’m starting wonder if he’s too soft for batman? If he can pull off the hardness he did so well in Equilibrium it should work fine, though. I’m probably just distracted by the genteel character from VG.

Inspired by VG and a friend who oh so loves/wants to see cute boys kissing:

Which 2 celebrity boys would you like to see kiss?
Or which celebrity boy/boy kiss was the best?

As for the latter, I’m going to stick with Ewan/Christian in VG, or maybe Ewan/Jonathon…hmmm may have to watch it again.

kiss.bmp

Celebrity boys I would like to see kiss: Christian Bale and Val Kilmer.

Though I’m certainly open to other suggestions.

And for you guys, you can do the same for girl celebrities…(how passe) *rolls eyes*

And for my final to be over. Which I know, for good or bad, will be done in 7.5 hours.
