Fever in my rash?

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 1:48 pm

Hypochondriasis:

the unfounded belief that one is suffering from a serious illness. Hypochondria is often associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety. Hypochondria can also be brought on by stress.

Is it completely unfounced if I think my Poison Ivy rash is infected because it’s radiating heat? Or that last night when I poured alcohol on it (as I have been doing for the past week and a half) it burned like hell, as opposed to a pleasant burning that distracts from the itching?
Add to that the steroids I’m taking say I have to avoid contact with people who might have illness for 12 months after completeing the medication. And the concern my doc expressed about the rash coming back after the steroids, because that’s what sometimes happens.

I’ll be at work tomorrow morning, and I’ll post links again to my various D*Con Weekend Blog links:

Crapicorn Horoscope

Filed under: Horoscopes — ninsianna @ 10:38 am

There’s a connection between Al Qaeda and actor Kevin Bacon, according to Tatsuya Ishida at www.sinfest.net. Al Qaeda was trained by the CIA, he says, which was established by President Harry Truman, who dropped the atom bomb which was cooked up by the Manhattan Project, which was the name of a movie starring John Lithgow, who was in the film “Footloose” with Kevin Bacon. I invite you to make liberal use of this kind of logic in the coming days, Capricorn. The astrological omens say it will be healthy for you to let your imagination run away with you as long as you don’t take as gospel truth all the conclusions it leads you to. So please feel free to ramble down the fine line between creative storytelling and total BS.

um - yeah.

So did I ever tell you my theory about who short weeks are actually logner because the mid point in the week is actually at the end of Wednesday as opposed to lunch time on Wednesday?

According to my horoscope this week I’m allowed such logic. Good Timing for a pending weekend of drunken logisticing.

Dragon*Con 2005 Schedule

Filed under: Geek — ninsianna @ 9:08 am

First off I would like to point you to that nifty little count down at the top right of my page. :-) Yes I’m rather proud of it and it’s simplicity. No I did not do it myself. I stole it. It’s what I do. Anyway, it’ll be the wedding countdown timer after D*Con.
I am truely a geek girlfriend now aren’t I?

So. Moving on. Since Phlome and I have been talking about it, and Zero has already created his, I thought I’d share what my D*Con schedule will look like. So, as inspired by Zero:

FRIDAY
1pm
How to write a story in one hour

2:30pm
An Hour with Peter S. Beagle (author of The Last Unicorn)
If for some reason he doesn’t make it or this event gets cancelled I will go to Mischief Managed hosted by the Weasley Twins James and Oliver Phelps

4pm
Notice:Book or Story Seeks Home with Caring Publisher
A big IF. I will probably be needing sustenance of some sort by this time.

5:30pm
Patterns of Force or Forcing Your Patterns

7pm
Dragon*Con Opening Ceremonies

8:30
Buffy Horror Picture Show AKA Once More With Feeling. Maybe - Hentai or Buffy? I’m torn.

10pm
Dubbing Hentai
We are so getting early to this one.

Saturday
10am
I doubt I’ll be up. I’ll skip the parade like I have the last two years. But I may try to catch:
America’s Manned Space Program in the 1960s Of course there is also Henna: Art, Tradition and Transformation

11:30am
Existential Fantasy Short Films
I have no idea where these are showing, but they’re showing from 11:30 - 12:30 and for of the 6 I want to see. If for some reason I can’t find the films, my back up plan is: All That Glitters: Adding some Flsh to Your Styles

1pm
Nothing planned. But Robert Jordan is doing his thing at this time - I may be w/ Phlome - or I may be eating.

2:30pm
Propping up Your Designs Maybe. If anyone else is interested in joining me, I’d also go see Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine

4pm
Starting from Scratch, or Cut, or Pencil, or Crayon, or Whatever

5:30pm
The Ties that Bind: Part I which coincides with Writing for the Online Markets I was kind of hoping I could get Phlome to go to the writing panel to bring back anything usefull.

7pm
Harry Potter Theories and Prophecies Maybe. Again, it’s dinner time. Not sure if I want to spend an hour with a bunch of people who have read the books so many times they know every single detail, error, and potential double meaning in the books. I prefer a bit of mystery.

8:30pm
Short Stuff: Writing Short Stories for Fun and Profit

11:30pm
Sex in the Hallways The First “Miss SPAT-CAVE” Contest (NC-17)

Sunday
10am
What You See is What You Wear Maybe - I still expect to be in bed, or eating.

11:30am
The Ties that Bind: Part II

1pm
Lunch or History and Art of Tattooing

Then I’ve got time to piddle around until

5:30pm
Suspense, Death, & Dying - Short Film Festival

More chill time

The Dragon*Con Curse

Filed under: Ick — ninsianna @ 10:03 am

Seems every year that we’ve gone to Dragon*Con someone has gotten sick. The first year it was Zero. Last year it was Donut. This year we feared it would be Phlome. Well he’s all better now, but my sinuses have started acting up. Plus I’m still fighting off my poison ivy rash.
Today at 1 I go to the doc to see if I can get a steroid shot to speed up the healing process, I may see if he has any suggestions for the sinus congestion as well. Sudafed day time helps with the congestion some, but it also makes me a bit loopy, and my stomach unsettled.
I’ll blog more later about upcoming D*Con planning/packing etc.

Also before I leave, I’ll try to remember and link to the audio and photo blogs. Since i’m not sure if I’ll have much time for regular blogging.

Tasks:

Filed under: To Do — ninsianna @ 9:19 am

1) Finish D*Con contact cards to hand out to people we meet to exchange photos etc.
2) Work on a work of fiction
3) Compare D*Con costume track schedule to Short Film Festival schedule

4) Confess my utter failings to Phlome… (check)

and deal with the fact that I’m burning myself out, and am going to have to stop trying to participate all the social events I’m invited to.

I am so f*ing tired today. I have poison ivy AGAIN. I’m sick and fucking tired of not being able to pet my dog because the poison ivy in the back yard WON’T DIE.

5) Try to avoid coming off as terribly moody at work today.
6) Update my resume.

Is it over yet?

Filed under: Rant — ninsianna @ 10:56 am

Tonight is our Quarterly meeting. It’s at a Winery. It should be fun. Still yet, I’ll be glad when it’s over. I can never just relax and enjoy myself and these things. And while this time the weight of its success or failure is not all on my shoulders - in a way it is, because the girl sharing the load, I’ll be replacing in a few weeks.
After tonight, I’d like to say I feel like I can really relax. But I know that’s not really true either. Next Tuesday my first class starts. And while I probably won’t have anything due before teh 9th - there will be things I’ll need to do, since I’ll be useless from the 1st though the 5th.
Maybe by the 19th of October I can relax a bit. The last of my 3 worst classes I’ll have to take will be over.
I hope these are the worst of it anyway.

Capricorn Horoscope for week of August 25, 2005

Filed under: Horoscopes — ninsianna @ 9:54 am

Capricorn Horoscope for week of August 25, 2005

Let’s discuss the differences between dumb, unproductive pain and smart, useful pain. The former is the kind you keep being drawn back to out of habit. It’s familiar, and therefore perversely comfortable. The latter is the kind of pain that surprises you with valuable teachings and inspires you to see the world with new eyes. While stupid pain is often born of fear, wise pain is stirred up by love. The dumb, unproductive stuff comes from allowing yourself to be controlled by your early conditioning and from doing things that are out of harmony with your essence. The smart, useful variety arises out of a willingness to live passionately and with a sense of adventure. Can you guess which type I’m urging you to gravitate toward right now, Capricorn?

How’d he know I was a masochist?

You Are Subversion!

You are systematic and secretive. Sometimes even very calculating. Most everyone trusts you but they have no idea what really goes on in your head. You are capable of being nice or mean, whatever a situation calls for. You look out for #1.

The Countdown

Filed under: Uncategorized — ninsianna @ 11:25 am

10 hours from now I’ll be through with my final - for better or worse.
So today I am doing the I don’t care polka.

Idontcare.jpg

Cuz I don’t care about my final other than it’s just in the way of me doing something that would be more fun. Like D*Con prepping, reading a good book, going/hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with Phlome.

Procrastination

Filed under: Geek — ninsianna @ 8:23 pm

I should be studying. I can’t remember when I last cared so little about this crap. Oh yeah, now I remember, right before my last final. My final is tomorrow. I looked over the review sheet, and decided that most of it is pretty intuitive, or I at least feel like I know it. The rest I don’t give a flying rats @$$ about.
So instead, I’m imagining Phlome with a cod-piece.

No. Seriously. Wouldn’t he just make a perfect Jareth?
Here take a look for yourself, and help me decide which one I could try to squeeze him into:

jareth sparkle.jpg
I think this may be a bit to sparkly - and really not enough cod-piece

jareth - leather.jpgjareth day.jpg
These two on the other hand - marvelous cod-piece!

Jareth - lounge.jpg
No cod-piece her either - but lovely nonetheless.

And Sometimes…
